About Me
Hi, my name is John. I am the creator of Redemptive Psych. I am thrilled that you’re here!
For nearly a decade, I’ve been studying the depths of personality psychology. While I draw from my personality systems and psychological principles, I mainly use a synthesis of Jungian Psychology combined with MBTI nomenclature.
I’ve learned and employ a great deal from Carl Jung, John Beebe, and Linda Berens. I have many other influences, including Freud, Lao Tzu, Jordan Peterson, Eckhart Tolle, John Eldredge, C.S. Lewis, Dallas Willard, Friedrich Nietzsche, and many others. I’m grateful to the lineage of many great thinkers whose work I am able to benefit from immensely.
I’ve learned the most about personality psychology from my former mentor, C.S. Joseph. I am grateful to him for sharing much of his knowledge with me, and giving me an opportunity several years ago to learn under him directly.
My purpose in creating Redemptive Psych is first and foremost to bring accurate self understanding to as many people as I am able. Self-deception and self-condemnation stand in near equal weight as two of the most destructive problems that humans get caught up with.
I believe that when we finally understand who we are, we find the grace to become more honest with ourselves. Through understanding and grace, we become able to share ourselves with others in authentic, inspiring, and rejuvenating ways.
My other purpose is to continue exploring the fringes of Christian Psychology. A much abandoned and neglected aspect of faith is understanding who we are. I believe we must go beyond simple dichotomies such as sin vs. salvation, and allow the human experience to be expressed truthfully, without reservation, and with rigorous reflection on what the human being really is.
Personality psychology sits as a powerful field that can intersect with secular and faith culture, and will ultimately bring us closer to our Creator, as we can better understand His nature through our own. Ultimately, my own purpose is to help people achieve the maximum freedom that they can handle. Paul says that Jesus died to set us free. I believe using our free will to understand ourselves puts us on the road to maximum freedom. That is where I want to be. I hope to meet you there too.
Credentials
In addition to analyzing and educating others about personality psychology, I am also an ICF certified personal development life coach. I utilize life coaching to help others unlock their potential, understand what’s blocking them, and align their nature with their goals.
I supplement all my coaching with personality psychology insights to equip clients with better self awareness to align their nature with their goals. For faith-interested clients, I offer prayer and principles of Christian Psychology into the coaching conversation. In all coaching interactions, I am to hold space for the client, allow them to come as they are, and guide to unlock their potential through authentically manifesting themselves.
